So along with the fitness regime, as is drummed into us, goes the food regime for all round goodness and healthy living.
I took a subject at school in the 1980s called ‘Home Economics’ which was supposed to teach me all about food and nutrition, but instead all I really remember is making cheesecake and egg fried rice and selling it to the other girls at school (I guess that is the economics bit).
Anyway, I am not a chef in any way shape or form, but I am interested in food choices, what goes in, what it does, how it affects you and how it makes or breaks your body. So I’m taking a course in nutrition to become a qualified nutritionist. Then I hope I will have the full package – fitness and nutrition together.
And, naturally, you have to practice what you preach, so from Monday (the weekend is my husband’s 40th party so I’m allowing myself that at least!) I will be logging all my food and beginning to understand its impact on me, my body and my fitness.
I feel like I’ve become a bit of a fatty over the summer (owing to Naughty Spice being ever-present), but with a couple of new classes that I am teaching, taking my fitness regime to 18 hours a week, that’s pretty well on the path to fitness success.
I intend to be a fitty, not a fatty!
