Mind and body

Exercise helps the mind

I know lots of people have said this on many an occasion, but it is true. Last week I used exercise like a drug to try and help me forget and to try and help me remember. I was homesick, you see, and I used various songs in my class to bring about memories and to evoke feelings, as well as to dance my little socks off and forget all about other things.

So it does help, and I did feel better, so three cheers for exercise!

I love the people who Zumba

I love my class of Zumbistas – they rock because they come very week and they wiggle and jiggle and dance and spin and smile and sweat. And they make it worthwhile turning up and rehearsing choreography and all that you do outside of the class.

The group is made up of all ages and all races, and that’s what I love about it – Zumba really is for everyone 🙂

This is Lenore – she is a grandmother and has soooo much energy and some wicked moves. Respect to her!

Hair piece

I love getting the giggles, especially when the rest of the class is giggling too – that even makes exercise even more fun.

About 30 seconds before Zumba class started last night a lovely member, whose hair I had been admiring only moments earlier, took off her lustrous hair piece and placed it on a table, declaring, “I’m not going to be able to Zumba with that on.” How we laughed! It made for a very amusing Zumba class indeed. She even stated that she hoped it would be “one of your funny little stories” that I blog about…..well, consider it done!

Off sick

The only drawback to this exercise junkie job is that when you are sick, that’s it – no exercising, no working. Today is that day. Three classes cancelled and no RIPPED preparation. Hey ho, a nice cup of tea and a biscuit will make me feel better, I’m sure 😉
